Turtles

About us

Hello and welcome to Turtle class!

From birth to 5 a child’s brain develops more and more rapidly than at any other time in their life. This is why we believe a strong start in early years is of extreme importance for all children, regardless of their starting points. In order to ensure children engage in learning in the Turtle class, we strive to make learning fun and support children to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Adults have high expectations of what children can learn and plan a motivating and challenging curriculum built on developing curiosity, resilience and independence through high quality interactions within a stimulating, open-ended learning environment through planned purposeful, playful and motivating learning experiences.

Our early years teacher is Miss Campbell and our Nursery key worker is Miss Morris. We also are supported by Mrs Pringle and Mrs Newman. On a Monday afternoon we are taught by Mrs Robinson. In the early years classroom the children will be supported by adults through direct teaching, child led learning (where we use the children’s interest to plan activities) and ‘choosing time’ where children can learn through play, during this time adults will provide high quality interactions to support and progress children’s play.

In our class, we all try our best, we are all kind to each other and we make sure we have fun!

Phonics is very important. We do this every morning in our classroom.

It would be really helpful if you could go through sound cards and listen to your child read regularly to support their learning.
